How do I divert my phone?

Instructions for diverting your BT landline to a call answering service or your mobile.

TO DIVERT ALL CALLS We recommend this option if the office is unattended.

Press * 21* [enter the number you are diverting your calls to] #

To check that it is on, press * # 21 #

To switch it off, press # 21 #

TO DIVERT CALLS UNANSWERED IN 15 SECONDS

Press * 61 * [enter the number you are diverting your calls to] #

To check that it is on, press *# 61 #

To switch it off, press # 61 #

If you are diverting your calls using this option then please be aware that there is an announcement on the line if the call is unanswered which says, “Please hold the line your calls are being diverted.”  BT can have this removed at your request if you log it as a fault, although it may take several attempts for this to happen. Just call BT on 0800 800152.

Please note that diverting your calls if unanswered is not the ideal solution as callers will have to wait longer for their call to be answered and may hang up as it will already have been ringing in your office first.

TO DIVERT CALLS WHEN YOUR PHONE IS BUSY We recommend this option if the office is staffed.

Press * 67 * [enter the number you are diverting your calls to] #

To check that it is on, * # 67 #

To switch it off, press # 67 #

The divert calls if unanswered and the divert calls if busy options can be run in together.

If you are using a BT “Feature Line” then you will have to put a 9 in front of the the number you are diverting your calls to, as if you were dialling an outside line.

DIVERTED CALLS TO ZEBRA CONNECTIONS WILL BE CHARGED AT NORMAL RATES AND WILL APPEAR ON YOUR BT TELEPHONE BILL. IF YOU USE ANOTHER TELEPHONE COMPANY INSTEAD OF BT, OR YOU USE A BT “FEATURE LINE”, PLEASE CONSULT THEM ON HOW TO DIVERT YOUR CALLS.

If you haven’t diverted your calls before then you will need to subscribe to your telecom provider’s call diversion facility. If you’re with BT then click here
